I was part of a series of Focus Group Workshops organised by Researcher Education and Development (RED) at Griffith University that were delivered last week.

Professor Barbara Pini and Doctor Judy Rose delivered the first workshop, An Overview of Focus Groups.

Here's the info on mine:

This workshop provides practical techniques for conducting focus groups online (and in person) when using mixed methods. We address what needs to be organised before conducting a focus group, including physical and technology requirements. Then, we provide examples of procedures used beforehand, building rapport, introduction of facilitator, and confidentiality. During focus groups, important issues discussed include randomising sequence of participants, facilitating a safe space for all participants to share their views, defining research terms, and managing social desirability bias. Additionally, we address how to conclude. Lastly, we discuss specific challenges of conducting (online) focus groups, including technology limitations, interpersonal skills and group dynamics, time, and energy management.

Let me know if you want to view my workshop, and I can send you a private link.

We will be delivering these in the new year, too. Keep an eye out on the Methodology Training events page.
