VLV Updates
Saturday night it was Miranda's birthday and we celebrated at Brisbane's place-to-be-seen Cloudland with a 3 course vegan meal especially created for the 11 of us. Here's the gals (and Paul):
L-R: Amelia, the Birthday gal Miranda, L-C, Sal (front), Christina, Paul, Corinne & Tarryn.
I must say I was a bit worried about the fact there weren't vegan options on the menu and the chef was going to create our own vegan menu especially for us. In the past at various other restaurants and events this has meant salad for an entree/starter, vegetables for main and fruit for dessert. Here's the menu. 3 courses for AU$40. Get excited - we did!
Don't you love how there's info about the items they used as well?!
I haven't been to many non-veg places lately, but I hope more chefs are being more creative or at least know how to do an internet search for delicious vegan options. Here's the entrees/starters:
Fig, Beetroot and Walnut Salad:
Tomato, Basil Bruschetta:
Tempura Zucchini Flower with Vinacotta:
If you've read any of my other blogs about food you would know that I can't stand it when there's low lighting and I have to use my flash for food photos. This can however be helped if you have a friend/s with a light on their phone. So thanks to Tarryn who was my lighting director for the night. She was absent for the main course photos which follow.
Penne Pasta with Eggplant and Napoli:
Israeli cous cous with Dates, Almonds and Apricots:
Caramelized Carrots, Sweet Potato, pine nuts and Cumin:
The dessert was displayed wonderfully with the Sago, coconut milk and mixed berries; Fruit Skewers; and Passionfruit Sorbet:
We were all mighty impressed with the meals, completely full and content. I spoke to the chef, Ashley to let him know much we appreciated his and his team's great work! Wonderful night, wonderful food and wonderful company!
