VLV Updates
Quite a few new vegetarian and vegan restaurants have opened up since I was overseas on my 6 month SE Asia adventures. One of them is Tracey Chapman's Peace Pies at Redcliffe, Brisbane North.
Tracey ran the successful Loving Hut Express stall at the Redcliffe markets every Saturday and Sunday for two years previously to opening her shop. Her pies and pastries are stocked at various places in Queensland, Australia. I ventured up to Peace Pies one Saturday with friends Renata and Roushini to find a wonderfully welcoming store - it's one of those places you can feel the love as soon as you walk in.
They have a mini market/vegan grocery inside the store, where you can buy many vegan goods:
And even more vegan goodies in the fridge:
Renata ordered the Everyday Pie Meal - Cauli Cream Pie with curly fries and salad AU$14:
Roushini also ordered the Everyday Pie Meal with Mushroom Mornay Pie and mashed peas AU$15.20:
Pastries are not really the sort of food I like. I was looking forward to some of Tracey's lasagne, but today was the day Trace wasn't making it unfortunately. I decided to try a lentil roll (AU$4.80) and a pie (AU$6) that Renata and Roushini hadn't ordered - the bolognese:
I also ordered a Watermelon Juice:
The three of us were at Peace Pies for over three hours and managed to fit in a slice of cake as well. The three of us shared a beesting cake AU$6.50:
I also had a Chocolate Cheesecake:
and a raw Blueberry Cheesecake to takeaway for Mum and I. Both were AU$6.50 each and gluten free.
